Please introduce yourself a little for those who don’t know you
Hello, my name is Sten, I am 20 years of age and was born and raised in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. Which is also my home spot and the place where I am most often found on the water.
Why, and at what age did you get into kiting?
My father has always been a fanatic windsurfer. And when I was little he always took me to the beach when he went windsurfing, so I was given a power kite in my hands that was only lowered when my father had finished windsurfing. this gave me good control over kites at a young age. I always enjoyed power kiting, but that time I enjoyed wave surfing even more. Only when I started combining the two sports with a skimboard around the age of 14 did the step towards kiting become very small. I was given a kite lesson on my 15th birthday and from that day on I have been hooked!
What about kiting do you enjoy most?
The feeling of freedom combined with the adrenaline that you can get from kiting cannot be compared to any other sport. it’s just indescribable
Describe the absolute perfect dream session to us.
My dream session would be to have a good 35+ knot session in Brazil on a amazing lagoon with all my friends in which I don’t necessarily land a certain trick but just make a bizarre progression
What gear are you riding and what’s your favorite size?
The gear I currently ride are the Kevpro 136 twintip witch has a Nice pop and lovely grip. And the Supermodel HTF. My favorite size of this kite is the 8 sqm. Because it is fast and direct with a wonderful boost!
What do you do on a day without wind?
I’m still studying so on a day without wind. I will probably do a little bit of my studies, and dreaming about tricks i am gonna send next session.
What can people expect to see from you in the future?
What people can expect from me in the future is that I will make enormous progress in the coming years. And that i will be able to compete in the biggest competitions in the world
