Please introduce yourself a little for those who don’t know you
I am Nicholas Faure and I am 16 years old from Cape Town South Africa. I usually ride my home spots which are Macassar and Strand but often travel through to Kitebeach in Blouberg. I am a big air kiter whose dream is to make it one day into the KING OF THE AIR.
Why, and at what age did you get into kiting?
I started kiting at the age of 10, but I kited very little till the age of 13 were I became obsessed with the sport. I started kiting because of my dad who had been doing the sport since the day I was 2 years old and after many years of sitting on the beach and pumping up and rigging his kites I decided to give it a go myself and here we are now.
What about kiting do you enjoy most?
I enjoy the thrill of sending it big and flying high like a bird. I love the feeling of freedom that you get when you are 20m high. It makes you almost feel invincible. But by far the thing that gives me the most enjoyment while kiting is throwing down a massive kiteloop/ kiteloop trick. There are no words to describe the feeling you get when you do certain tricks.
Describe the absolute perfect dream session to us.
The perfect session would be at kite beach during December with Kevin Langeree and some of the other Groms in 30 knots of wind. I would like to land a double loop, a kiteloop boardoff and a contraloop boardoff.
What gear are you riding and what’s your favorite size?
I am riding the new Supermodel HTF and kevpro. My favorite size for big loops and high jumps is an 8m but my favorite size for learning new tricks and overall progression is a 10m.
What do you do on a day without wind?
If there are waves I normally go SUP surfing or tow in foiling but if there are no waves I go to the gym to train or spend time with friends and family.
What can people expect to see from you in the future?
People can expect to see me progress to professional levels of kiteboarding and send some massive double loops. They can also expect to see me progress in the world of foiling whether it is kite foiling or tow in foiling.
