Please introduce yourself
Hey there my name is Aurelia Rick and originally I’m coming from the south of Germany close to Stuttgart. But I moved to the island of Sylt three years ago to live with my boyfriend. That’s the place where I usually go kiting and winging.
How did you get into kiting?
Learning how to kitesurf was quite a long journey for me as when I was young somehow my parents believed that kitesurfing was rather an older kids and also they couldn’t really afford to get me into the sport. When I was fifteen years old I bought my first equipment and learned it on my own. My progression only really started when I did an Au-pair year in Sweden and when I afterwards came to Sylt.
What about kiting do you enjoy most?
I really enjoy the different possibilities that come along with kitesurfing as kitefoiling or big air are like two completely different sports. But also I really learned to love wing foiling the past year and this new sport is giving me loads of motivation to progress.
Describe the absolute perfect dream session to us
As long as it isn’t choppy I can’t decide between nice kicker or perfect flatwater. A windspeed around 25-30knts together with a nice sunset, warm weather and good friends. This session would be perfect if I would land some biiiig kiteloops :)
What gear are you riding and what’s your favorite size?
I’m riding the 133cm KevPro and my Supermodel HTF. My favorite kite size is the 8m as it’s just perfect for big jumps and loops. But I’m also really stoked on my 4.5m SuperNatural. I can get going in really little wind and also get super fast.
What do you do on a day without wind?
A perfect windless day would start with a nice tour on my roadbike together with my boyfriend and end with a relaxing day afterwards.
What can people expect to see from you in the future?
Even though the wind has been quite bad this year so far I hope to progress even more with my kiteloops and boardoffs in the next months. To be able to do them in stronger and stronger winds would definitely be a goal of mine. But also to someday add some rotations :) With the wing I definitely would love to jump higher and ride some waves with the wing in neutral position. That’s for sure another dream of mine.
