Please introduce yourself a little for those who don’t know you
I am Lukas Schumacher from Germany. I’m 15 years old and absolutely in love with kitesurfing. In the summer, me and my family are at a campsite in Denmark, so in the summer my homespot is kegnæs. But when it’s not summer, I usually kite in Sankt Peter Ording or on a spot that’s called “Nordstrand”.
Why, and at what age did you get into kiting?
My dad and my uncle were kiting, every time we went to the beach, and every time I thought, that I want to do that as well, but I was way too small and too light. But one day on the campsite my dad told me, that I’m going on the water tomorrow and I just went crazy, I was so happy. That time I was 11 years old.
What about kiting do you enjoy most?
When you’re about to jump and the gust kicks in, so you got extra power. And then, when you get launched in the air and you know you’re going super high.
Describe the absolute perfect dream session to us.
The best sessions are always with my family and friends at the campsite, when there is around 30 knots south east wind, because then the wind comes straight over a little damp thing and right behind there you got water which is super clean and you can jump crazy. Maybe I will land a boardoff then
What gear are you riding and what’s your favorite size?
At the moment I have a 6,8 and a 10 supermodel V3, but I am selling it at the moment, so I can ride the Collection 4. The most time I’ve ridden the 6 and I really like this on. My super E is so nice, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
What do you do on a day without wind?
Sometimes I ride bikes with friends and do some wheelies. But on other days, when it’s rainy I play some games on my PlayStation
What can people expect to see from you in the future?
Definitely some nice shots from me, because my mom bought a new camera, so she’s hyped too. I am really planning to do some tow-up stuff, but the wind direction has to be perfect.
