SUPERNATURAL SSD

Lightwind dominance

About SUPERNATURAL SSD

The possibility of riding and having fun in much lighter winds than many other windsports is very exciting. We’ve been looking at how to spend even more time on the water, without compromising a wing in ease of use when it comes to handling or performance. That’s why we’ve built the SuperNatural Short Span Design.

SuperNatural SSD has a shorter wingspan by increasing the strut length, and added side struts, which allow for a more boxed shape in the wingtips. This shape is also perfect for lightwind performance! For added ease of use, we increased the dihedral (arc) angle to keep the wingtips from touching the water. Combined with our new rigid ErgoCarbon handles, these large wings are super easy to handle, and absolute beasts in light wind performance.

What's new

SUPERNATURAL SSD has been completely revamped with an extreme focus on weight and stiffness. The leading edge and struts are now made from a High Tenacity Polyester, making the whole wing more rigid, and resulting in a drastic weight reduction. Combined with our all-new full carbon handles, these wings seem to defy their size.

Key points

Extremely light
Focus this year was making the wing as light as possible while keeping it stiff and efficient. The reduced weight makes SUPERNATURAL SSD handle very easily, especially in marginal conditions the wind carries the wing very easily, greatly reducing arm fatigue.

New carbon handles
All new carbon handles were designed with a focus on ergonomics and weight. We made a pistol grip in the front, and added a bumper to protect your board when crashing.

New profile
For early starts and lofty jumps, combined with a less twisted winging tip for unmatched upwind performance.

Very direct
The tensioned canopy throughout the wing provides a very direct response and also minimizes flutter when sheeted out, or riding free-fly for unseen stability allowing you to focus 100% on your riding.

Natural forward drive
As soon as you pump this wing you will feel how it naturally wants to shoot forward. This makes SUPERNATURAL very efficient, comfortable, and easy to ride upwind.

Natural positive lift
The design’s objectives focused on efficiency, stability, power, natural positive lift, and forward drive. This was achieved through a specific Arc shape, a stiff frame for direct response, a unique profile for natural lift, and a wing that naturally flares out to fly forward as soon as the wind flows through.

3-strut design
Two added struts make it possible to keep rigidity in a low-aspect shape design. This greatly increases efficiency and power in light-wind.

Wind range
We all know that light winds can easily pick up, so we made sure to tune the canopy and profile so that it stays very controllable in higher windspeeds, so you don’t have to worry about switching wings, and can keep on riding and focus on what you love doing.

Features

Three-strut design

Two added struts make it possible to keep rigidity in a low-aspect shape design. This greatly increases efficiency and power in light-wind.

Aerolight frame

New High Tenacity Polyester LE and strut allow for a better tensioned canopy, and an even more rigid wing, with a drastic weight reduction. Making SuperNatural one of the lightest wings with rigid handles on the market.

High tenacity trailing edge

Maintains shape integrity over time.

ErgoCarbon handle

Front handle with pistol grip for free-fly quick access and keeping control of the wing’s angle of attack to match finger’s shapes. Made with 100% prepreg carbon for unmatched strength at only 60gr each.

Light weight soft battens

Keeps the trailing edge from fluttering while remaining very light and unable to damage your wing when packing.

Evolutive dihedral

Each size SuperNatural has a specifically tuned dihedral for an optimum projected wingspan. An increased dihedral also helps keep the wingtips out of the water and improves ease of use on larger sizes.

Vertical tension seams

Canopy seams are running vertically along the wing, each seam rigidifies and takes on most of the load, this provides a stiffer canopy that will have minimum deformation while riding and over time.

Tensioned canopy

For the most stable profile and wing, this provides a very direct feel with minimal flutter when riding and also ensures a very stable ride in both neutral style riding when you simply hold the wind in the wing using the front handle and riding position.

Size guide

SSD wings are not designed as “the lighter the wind, the bigger the wing”. Instead, we recommend you  choose 1 SSD wing as your ultimate light-wind wing, and pick the size according to your weight in the size chart.
